The Sign Syndicate (www.TheSignSyndicate.com) is a Sign Industry forum which conducts ongoing benchmark tests for various areas involving commercial signs.  Currently, The Sign Syndicate is conducting groundbreaking tests for electrical components involving NEON and LED under a campaign called The Great White Hope.  Other campaigns covering other areas of signage are underway.

The International Sign Association (www.isa.org) serve as a National Sign Industry advocate for all things signage in America and is located on the East Coast.

Some of the major trade publications for the Sign Industry are Sign and Digital Graphics Magazine, Sign Builder Magazine, Signs of the Times, etc.

 
INDUSTRY OVERVIEW: Sign Manufacturing, $12 billion

According to Hoovers.com, the sign manufacturing industry in the US includes about 6,000 companies with combined annual revenue of about $12 billion. Major companies include Brady Corporation, Daktronics, Young Electric Sign Company, PolyVision, and Posterloid (a division of The Alpine Group). The industry is fragmented; the 50 largest companies account for about 25 percent of industry revenue.
